Hawks Recreation Area/George Washington National Forest

National Park Service operated campground with picnic area, and hook-ups inside 100,000-acre National Forest.

From Capon Springs, WV, take County Rt. 16 (Capon Springs Rd.) southeast 1.7 miles to Forest Rt. 502. Turn right onto Rt. 502 and go 1.3 miles to Public Rd. 347. Turn right onto Rt. 347 and go 0.7 miles to campground entrance on the right.

Middle Ridge Campground

5-rooms Bed and Breakfast. Friday-Saturday only. Full breakfast. Other meals by special arrangement.Follow Rt. 50W 11.3 miles. Turn left on Rt. 259S, Carpers Pike. Continue on Rt. 259S for 6 miles. Turn right at The Country Inn at High View sign.

Milleson’s Walnut Grove Campground

21 large wooded campsites, each with picnic table and fire ring. Water, sewer, and electric hookups. Open year-round. In-ground swimming pool, bath house with hot water, 2 pavilions with fire-rings, 2 ponds (catch and release fishing), hiking trails. Close to river access, canoeing and tubing, excellent hunting and fishing. 5 miles west of Romney on Rt. 50, right at Fox Hollow Rd., follow double yellow lines as it becomes Middle Ridge Rd. Entrance 2 miles on right.

130-acre,100-site campground with 1 mile riverfront on South Branch of Potomac River. Water, electric hookups, many private sites. Modern bath house, hot showers, playground, fishing, hiking, canoeing, camp store, ice, LP gas. Overnight, week or annual rentals.
